Recently, we gave a presentation to the sales force at Kennickell Printing on the use of social networking to improve their search engine ranking and to get more business from their website. One of the charts we used to explain SN and Internet Marketing was a chart we called "Circle the Wagons". Essentially, we looked at the traditional way of finding a website and in most cases a site is found by typing in a keyword phrase into one of the major search engines. Well this action is great if your site is really SEO (search engine optimized) ready but if not your site will not appear on the first page if at all. Using our Circle the Wagon strategies, we can get you found and on the first page of Google and probably the other major search engines. Here are the steps to create the wagon effect:
1. Create Keyword-Based Traffic Generators. These are typically one page blogs using the keyword that best describe the search phrases that will be used by a seeker for your product or service. An example, if a seacher was looking for Savannah Digital Advertising, He/She would probably type this in the search block. And, if we were marketing a company that provides this type of service, we would have purchased the domain name "SavannahDigitalAdvertising" and wrote a blog that provided useful information but most important...a call-to-action element. The call-to-action element is intended to take the viewer to the main website. I suggest you do this for each product or service that your business sells. The cost is minimal because your only outlay is the cost to purchase domain names. If you can write a letter, you can write a blog or you can something do this for you which might cost you a few bucks.
2. Interactive & Discussion Tools: Twitter, Facebook and YouTube are excellent examples of social networking sites that are extremely interactive and allow you to prepare a "killer profile"; interact with possible buyers of yours services; announce events or new products and act an extension of your customer service department.
3. Reputation Builders: Linkedin, Blogs and Newletters & Subscriptions. While newsletters and subscriptions are fading because most readers don't want to take the time to read your newsletter. The real winner in building your company reputation is use Blogs that can be deployed to your social networking accounts and also used on your Linkedin account. Linkedin.com is a great site to show-off your company, your reputation and your innovations. You can also interact with other professionals in your industry...Building a reputation is a key component to branding your company product or service.
